"Sold! for 500 dollars to the young lad in the front!" The Auctioneer yelled over the crowd.
Charlie looked down at her feet. The next horse in front of her was dragged up to the stand.
The man handling her tugged on her tweed halter harshly. The rope of the halter cut into her skin. It stung like nothing she'd ever felt before.
All she wanted to do was get out of this hell. But sadly, this Auction was for horses that needed to go to slaughter. There was no way out. The Auctioneer called out and she was next. The halter was tugged harshly cutting deeper into her skin. A small tear escaped her eye.
She looked around at the small crowd of people buying horses to kill them. She tried to rest as much as she could before the auction was over. The Auctioneer called out and startled her awake. She looked around to find who was the buyer of her pelt. A woman with brown hair streaked with gold covered by a black and white beanie stood up.
The woman grabbed the halter from the man that handled her and tugged it gently to get her walking. Charlie followed curious about her buyer. She looked at what she wore, A Black and white plaid button up, worn jeans, and boots. Interesting She thought.
The woman led her to a trailer and removed the tweed halter. Replacing it was a halter that was padded with fleece. She felt just a bit more comfortable. Her new owner turned and opened a box containing medicines and adhesives. She took out a cotton ball and put a bit of cream on it. She thoroughly cleaned Charlies wounds then bandaged them.
The woman spoke to her in a soft voice, "Don't worry, you're safe with me." Charlie was loaded into the warm trailer bedded with hay and a bucket with grain hanging in front of her. She felt a bit of reassurance. Maybe this human isn't like the rest...

Poor Charlie D: Living in such conditions! At least Kenzie rescued her from being slaughtered, unlike those very unfortunate others I hate abuse it's one of the most vile things on this planet. If I had a power, it would be to put an end to all abuse. It's a terrible terrible thing. One thing that always gets me is when I hear stories about people rescuing horses from slaughter, how they're giving these horses hope and a second chance at life. I've made a promise that when I get a horse I will rescue it, and train it myself. just because a horse has one tiny flaw, doesn't mean it needs to be sent off to be killed.
